This 14-day tour is a thrilling journey by train connecting major destinations from the northern mountains of Sapa to the southern Mekong river, via Hanoi, Halong, Hue, Hoi An, Ho Chi Minh City allowing you to see the magic of Vietnam. A cruise through the mystic limestone landscape of Ha Long Bay, see a vibrating floating market on the Mekong River, charming ladies in (traditional dress) Ao Dai and conical hat posed against the beautiful old rampart of the Imperial Citadel. The yellow walled ancient town of Hoi An to the majestic rice terraces and mosaics of ethnic hill tribe in Sapa. DAY 1 – ARRIVAL HANOI
Welcome on arrival at the airport, transfer to the hotel for check-in. (Overnight in Hanoi)

DAY 2 – HANOI – LAO CAI
Today enjoy a full day city tour, visit Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum (outside only) and the former President’s stilt house. Next visit the iconic One-Pillar Pagoda and the History Museum followed by lunch at a local restaurant. In the afternoon is a visit to the Temple of Literature, Ngoc Son Temple and Hoan Kiem Lake and the Old Quarter of Hanoi, before heading to a typical Hanoi local coffee shop where you settle down for refreshment with local drink or a glass of Bia Hoi: fresh locally brewed beer. Drop by Thang Long theatre to enjoy a famous Water Puppet Show, the unique Vietnamese traditional art.  Then you have free time back at your hotel before your late evening transfer for the overnight train to Lao Cai (Overnight onboard train) B L

DAY 3 – LAO CAI – SAPA
Early arrival in Lao Cai, you will be transferred straight to Sapa for breakfast at the hotel. After some time to relax a full day driving tour on the rim of the deep valley, followed by 30-minutes’ walk to the ‘rattan bridge’ and the Ethnic village ‘Ta Van’ where you will see the Giay people followed by visit to Cat Cat village. Lunch at a local restaurant (Overnight in Sapa) B L

DAY 4 – SAPA – LAO CAI – HANOI
Today you visit a local market in Lao Cai and then Lunch at local restaurant. In the afternoon a transfer to Hanoi (approx. a 5-hour drive) Upon arrival in Hanoi after check in the rest of the day is free time (Overnight in Hanoi) B L

DAY 5 – HANOI to HA LONG BAY
Breakfast at hotel then transfer to Halong Bay, board your boat for an unforgettable cruise. Welcome seafood lunch on board. Cruise in Halong bay visiting some islands and caves. Possibility of kayaking (optional) around some nice beaches. Late afternoon, admire the sunset over the bay, enjoy happy hour on the bar deck or attend a cooking demonstration. (Overnight on board) B L D

DAY 6 – HA LONG BAY to HANOI – HUE
Start the day with a Tai Chi class on the sundeck. Have a late breakfast before disembarkation. Return to Halong wharf, disembark and transfer back to Hanoi. Then at 4pm join the Night street food tour - an exciting walk to seek and find Ha Noi delectable street food.  Start first with a cold glass of Bia Hoi, popular draft beer, around Ta Hien street, so-called International Crossroad. Next get a bowl of noodle soup, locally known as Bun Thang by the legendary Madam Duc. Next, we stroll alongside Hoan Kiem Lake before reaching Saint Joseph Cathedral. Then enjoy Bánh G?i (Pillow shaped crispy dumplings) and the delicately made fish sauce will surely make it tastier. Keep walking through the Old quarter before stopping by Bánh M? Lãn Ông stand, selling thin baguette styled bread with pate. Your eyes will then be by delighted the colorful and flavorful varieties of O Mai (Salted or Sugared Dried Fruits) in Hang Duong (Sweet) street. O Mai are made from the most common tropical fruits such as star fruit, tamarind, kumquat, pineapple, and mango. Taste, buy and take away as a dessert. Finish by ending the night like a local, over a cup of bold egg coffee. Hotel pick up for the night train to Hue (Overnight onboard sleeper train)

DAY 7 – HUE
Breakfast picnic on board. Pick up and transfer from Hue station to take a tour of art and handicraft for wellness at Thanh Tien and Sinh Village. Free time for lunch, then in the afternoon a drive to visit Imperial Citadel and Thien Mu pagoda (Overnight in Hue) B

DAY 8 – HUE – DA NANG – HOI AN
In the morning visit Dong Ba market. Transfer to train station to board the local train SE1 (10.50-13.15) or similar (depart from Hue –to Da Nang) - soft seats in shared carriage with local travelers. Free time for lunch. Upon arrival in Danang, pick up and transfer to visit Cham Museum, Marble Mountain and proceed to Hoi An. Check in and leisure time. (Overnight in Hoi An) B

DAY 9- HOI AN
Morning walking tour of Hoi An to discover the historic town which used to be a prosperous seaport city during the 16th to 18th centuries. Here you will see residents raise silkworms and produce silk for Hoi An's burgeoning textile industry. Afternoon free time for your own activities. (Overnight in Hoi An) B

Optional: Fishing village and basket boat tour with lunch or dinner on boat– 4 hours
You will enjoy a wide range of experiences - from learning traditional fishing techniques to paddling the strange and unique Vietnamese bamboo basket boats while exploring the now tranquil coconut-palm flanked waterways of a past war. On this tour we provide an authentic social and cultural insight into the local Vietnamese way of life. As well you will take part in some hands-on activities.

DAY 10- HOI AN – DA NANG – HO CHI MINH
Today you have free time until your transfer to Da Nang train station for the night train approx. 11.30pm departure or similar to Ho Chi Minh - soft seats in shared carriage with other local travelers. (Overnight onboard train) B

DAY 11 – HO CHI MINH
Early arrival in Ho Chi Minh, pick up at Saigon (old name of Ho Chi Minh city) railway station then drive straight to hotel for early check in with breakfast, free time in the morning.

Optional: Cooking class “Half day gourmet tour” Pick up at your hotel and transfer to the local market where the Chef will be welcoming you and show you around, learn and buy fresh ingredient. Continue to the cooking class and learn to cook three dishes in a very hands-on manner under his instruction. (Menu is varied depending on the day). After the class, you will enjoy what you have cooked. A complimentary dessert and free flow of mineral water, "Tra da" (green iced tea) will be on offer. Receive a nice folder with detailed recipes before you leave. In the afternoon: Enjoy outside photo stop tour at Reunification Palace, the beautiful Central Post Office, Opera House and City Hall (Overnight in Ho Chi Minh) B

DAY 12 – HO CHI MINH – CAN THO – OVERNIGHT BASSAC CRUISE
Today transfer to Can Tho for 2 days 1-night cruise on the Mekong Delta. Boarding at Can Tho at Ninh Kieu pier. Welcome drink, introduction to the ship and crew, check into the cabins. Departure downstream of the Hau river. Lunch on board while en route. Turning into Nicolai canal, towards the Mang Thit and Co Chien rivers. Rest on the upper deck in a scenery of rice fields, sugar cane and woods. By mid-afternoon, the Bassac casts anchor for a visit on shore: discovery of the peaceful life in the delta's countryside, of rice fields, fruit trees and the welcoming inhabitants, or, at your option, short cycling tour of the surrounding area. Then a complimentary drink as a welcome back on board. Rest on the deck or around the bar enjoying the sunset. The crew serves dinner while the Bassac is cruising Mang Thit river towards her anchorage point for the night. (Overnight on Bassac cruise) B L D

DAY 13 – BASSAC CRUISE – CAI BE – HO CHI MINH
06:00 Departure towards Cai Be. Breakfast will be served at 7:00 while enjoying the scenery on the banks.The Bassac crosses Co Chien river then branches into Cho Lach canal for 30 minutes through the traffic of sand and rice barges, in a scenery of fruit drying facilities and wooden ship building yards. Arrival near Cai Be, check-out and transfer to a rowing boat for a quiet visit through a small canal if the tide allows. Rendezvous with a local boat, which will take you to shore for a visit of Cai Be's handicraft. Upon disembark, drive back to Ho Chi Minh city. Lunch at local restaurant. In the afternoon: free time at leisure (Overnight in Ho Chi Minh) B L

Optional: A O Show – a sensual Vietnamese evening show – 1 hour Our guide will meet you at your hotel in Saigon city center and heading to Saigon Opera House, built in 1898, is not only a fantastic venue to explore but also offers a unique cultural experience. Live Vietnamese cultural shows with sophisticated lighting and mesmerizing live music played from 20 traditional Vietnamese instruments! Day 14 – HO CH MINH – CU CHI
Morning Visit to Cu Chi Tunnels, an amazing complex of underground tunnels used during the Vietnam war, followed by lunch at local restaurant. After being transferred back to the hotel you then have free time until your arranged transfer out to the airport for your departure flight. Suggest booking a late afternoon or evening flight.
