All You Need to Know About When to Arrive at the Train Station
Eurostar journeys require a minimum check-in time of 30 minutes, though we would recommend allowing more time if you are able to. At busier times, or if you need to collect your tickets from automatic ticketing machines or ticket counters at the station, we would recommend arriving at the station at least 45 minutes prior to your scheduled departure.
TRAINS IN EUROPE
There are no official check-in periods for other trains in Europe, though of course we always suggest arriving at the station in plenty of time. It is worth remembering that, while there are no set check-in times, at some stations (such as in many Spanish cities, for example), your luggage will need to be quickly scanned before you can board.
TRAINS IN THE USA AND CANADA
There is no official check-in time for Amtrak or ViaRail trains in the USA and Canada, though if you are checking luggage you will need to leave plenty of time before the train departs.
Luxury or private train journeys, such as the Venice Simplon-Orient-Express, will have individual check-in requirements. Please speak to one of our Rail Experts for details.
