‘The Pearl of the Basque Coast,’ Biarritz is famous for music, dance and cinema. Located in the Bay of Biscay and once a favorite destination for visiting European royalty, the town is still considered a luxurious seaside resort with its grand hotels, casinos and golden beaches. You can still see the palace built for Empress Eugenie (wife of Napoleon III) which is now the grand Hôtel du Palais, and also her Chapelle Imperiale with its intricately decorated interior. Don’t miss the views from the Pointe Sainte Martin. Biarritz is also renowned as the historical capital of surfing in Europe and is lined with an impressive 4 miles of beaches.
