Golmud
Set on the southern edge of the Qaidam Basin at 2,800 meters, Golmud is a high-altitude transport hub in Qinghai Province, linking eastern China to Tibet via the Qinghai-Tibet Railway. The city is framed by the Kunlun Mountains and vast salt flats, with highlights including the surreal Qarhan Salt Lake and the Wanzhang Salt Bridge, built entirely from salt. Home to 33 ethnic groups, Golmud offers a rich blend of cultural traditions, regional cuisine, and natural beauty.
